Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I pay off my purchase early?
Of course! There's no penalty for paying off your purchase early.
How do I make payments?
You can make or schedule payments at affirm.com or in the Affirm app for iOS or Andriod. Affirm will send you email and text reminders before payments are due.
Can I return an item I bought with Affirm?
Absolutely! Check out our return policy to learn more about how to start a return.
Does checking my eligibility affect my credit score?
Checking your eligibility will not impact your credit. If you decide to pay with installments through Affirm, your payments may be reported to credit bureaus. Still have questions? You can learn more in Affirm's Help Center.
Do I need a mobile number to use Affirm?
Yes, you'll need a mobile phone number from the US. or U.S. territories. This helps Affirm verify it's really you who is creating your account and signing in.
How to I qualify for the Affirm Virtual Card?
Currently, the ability to request an Affirm Card is subject to eligibility and not available to everyone; some customers will not be able to request an Affirm Card. To be eligible for the Affirm Card, you must be 18 or older, live in the United States, have a social security number, have an Affirm account, and maintain a good repayment history with Affirm and a healthy credit profile. The Affirm Card is not available to residents of U.S. territories, and other eligibility requirements may apply.
How do I pay over time using the Affirm Card?
The Affirm Card is a debit card that allows you to pay in full for purchases, or request to pay for purchases over time right from the Affirm app.
Head to the app to request to split eligible purchases into payment plans—either before you buy or up to 24 hours after your purchase. There is a minimum purchase amount required for payment plans. The minimum purchase amount is displayed in the Card Tab of the Affirm app. You can explore more about how the Affirm Card works in our app.
All payment plans are subject to approval and the options available may vary or change from time to time. Just like using any Affirm product, the purchase amount and payment plans you have available are based on your history with us and your credit eligibility, among other factors.
Note that not all purchases can be split into multiple payments. See a list of ineligible purchases. (Note that this list isn’t exhaustive. There may be additional categories or merchants that Affirm restricts at our discretion).
Will there be interest on payment plans?
Plans for Affirm Card purchases can be interest-free and interest-bearing with various durations. Our interest-bearing options only charge simple interest (so you won’t be paying interest on your interest). The options available to you will depend on factors including your creditworthiness, purchase amount, and whether you request a payment plan before or after purchase, among others.
Will requesting a payment plan affect my credit?
Requesting a payment plan will never affect your credit—but your payment history and loan amount can. Learn more about Affirm and your credit score.
Are there overdraft fees?
Not from Affirm, but your bank may charge you an overdraft fee if there are insufficient funds in your linked account to cover a payment. Refer to your bank’s overdraft fee policy for more information.
