Style is in bloom.
Winter is ending, and spring is fast approaching. Is your outdoor space keeping up with the new season’s must-have colors, textures, and accessories? We spoke with our in-house visual merchandiser to help you get your backyard ready for warmer weather and brighter colors. Here’s the spring trends for outdoor spaces:
Bold Hues:
Flowers and colors are blooming this season. From Pantone’s striking periwinkle shade to New York Fashion week’s true to hue kelly greens, blues, cerulean, and even yellows. There are many ways to add color to your outdoor space without feeling like you spilled a crayon box in your backyard. All you have to do is follow these tips:

Be Loud:
A monochromatic look never goes out of style, so if you’re drawn to the vibrancy of trendy lime green or hot orange–lean into it. We recommend choosing a neutral palette to start, so outdoor furniture in a black, white, or natural finish and build from there.
Start with cushions, coordinate your chosen color with a rug, and play with accents. Spring flowers are always our favorite outdoor accessory, but you can’t go wrong with a well-placed stool or an outdoor umbrella. Did we mention we have over 80 styles to choose from?

Be Deliberate:
When dealing with bold colors, the last thing you want to do is have a timid approach. So, be deliberate with your choices. Pops of color do a lot to elevate a space, and there are many ways to add some color to your exterior design. A throw pillow is often people’s first choice, but we recommend simply starting with an accessory you love and building around it.
Consider your current outdoor decor. There’s no need to revamp your entire patio design to keep up with spring outdoor trends. Stay within your current color family or opt for complementary colors. This will create a pulled-together look that’s spring-inspired and on-trend.

DID YOU KNOW:
The first day of the spring happens when the Sun crosses the celestial equator. This usually happens on on March 20th or 21st. It's also known as the Vernal Equinox.
Woven Textures:
Needlework is having a moment, and while we don’t carry any crocheted or knitted products, there are multiple ways to bring a little texture into your backyard design. It starts with furniture.
Weaving is Everything:
Wicker patio furniture is always our first suggestion adding a fun texture to your outdoor space, and it’s easy to see why. Our wicker furniture is all handwoven, so no two collections are the same––which means lots of variety.
Find the style that speaks to you. Whether it’s a thick weave or light frame color, our wicker patio sets can serve as the perfect backdrop for those spring colors. You can always just add a wicker accent too. We recommend a wicker ottoman or coffee table for an on-trend touch of eclecticism.
Opt-In to Patterns:
While materials really drive home textures, a little pattern play can go a long way. Look for large repeating patterns for your rugs or throw pillows to create a sensory illusion. The right design can add depth and intrigue to your patio design without overpowering your other style choices.
We recommend a geometric pattern like our Tan Distressed Outdoor Rug or even our Multi-Panel Rug that’s giving us granny-square-inspired nostalgia, and of course, you can’t go wrong with a bigger-than-life floral print. The size of the pattern will breathe life into a spring staple, making it a fashion-forward design decision.

Greenery:
New growth defines spring. There are sprouting bulbs, new leaves, and dew-covered grass. These living elements may already exist in your outdoor space, and if so, we recommend making them a focal point. You work hard to care for your flower beds, lawn, and plant babies. Let them take center stage, or at the very least, be an eye-catching backdrop. All you have to do is:
Work Your Levels:
Plant stands are a thing for a reason. They do two things well: create a cluster of greenery and bring plants higher into your field of vision. We recommend both. Group your plants on the patio, but get creative.
Hang them from different levels from your overhang if that’s an option. Arrange them at differing heights on the floor or even an end table. Crowd them around your seating and dining set until your outdoor space feels like a tropical escape.

Faux, Not Foe:
You don’t need a green thumb to keep up with the greenery trend. You just need some fake plants. We carry a variety of faux plants.
From succulents to ficus, each faux plant can be arranged to achieve the desired effect. We even recommend bringing fresh-cut bouquets outdoors for a style pick-me-up that makes every outdoor space feel more lush and luxurious.
